SR Tendulkar with his score of 150 plus in this test, registered his 19th score of 150 plus runs in a test innings. SR Tendulkar became the third Indian batsman to score five or more double hundreds. The other two are – V Sehwag {06} and R Dravid {05}.
Action-packed session comes to an end. India tried to accelerate after Tea but lost Tendulkar and Harbhajan in quick succession and the shutters were put down. Dhoni tried to keep the attack going but once he was dismissed, the runs were coming in trifles. The tail has wagged once again and taken India past the Lankan score, earning a lead of 27 runs. 80 runs were scored in this session for the loss of 4 wickets in 38 overs and Sri Lanka would be happy that they got at least one session in their favour today. But the day belonged to two men, one playing his 168th Test, Sachin Tendulkar and the other, a debutant, Suresh Raina. The pair added a mammoth 256 between them and took India to safety. Raina scored a brilliant century while Tendulkar scored a double and Dhoni chipped in with 76. Nothing much left in this game as both teams would be playing for some momentum before the third Test.
